The institution we were told to work on was BBC Radio 1. On there we had to choose one of the shows and me and my partner chose to do Westwood. The reason why we chose it because we both watch Westwood videos on Youtube and we were interested. Westwood is broadcasted every Saturdays at 9pm GMT. The presenter of this show is Tim Westwood, he does his work alone and is said to be the best by some of the world’s best artists. On the Westwood page I found a bit information about him and here’s what I found:
Westwood is the most recognized urban DJ of the decade. He is regarded as the most influential figure in hip hop in Europe and as a pioneer of the UK scene.
What others say about Westwood:
Snoop Dogg:
"You can't come to the kingdom and not see the prince"
Pharrell Williams:
"You don't know, it all about Westwood"
Eminem:
"I'm a big fan of Tim, The guy is a one-off. No one does what he does"
Wycleff:
"Everybody wants someone when they blow up, man. But he takes an artist before anybody knows who they are and blows them up. He had my back even before The Fugees, you know what I'm saying? . Shade is just shade, Tim is hip hop through and through"
Pete Rock:
"Tim's like a hip hop brother to me, man. He's always treated me with respect and I pay him with high regard"
50 Cent: "Westwood is like my Funkmaster Flex overseas. He's one of the leading DJ's".

The website was very appealing; youngsters who are interested in DJ’s etc will immediately like it because of the image that was shown next to an image of Tim. The layout was simple and easy to understand. This Westwood page is all about music, nothing else which attracts youngsters nowadays who are interested in the type of music Westwood produce.
One of the things I liked about the Westwood page was that if for some reason you’ve missed one of the shows, you can simply go to their page and watch the repeat of it. So you’re never going to miss out on a show, especially when famous grime artists such as Giggs, best rap artist Eminem are on the show. It’s something you wouldn’t want to miss out on. To go to the Westwood page, you go to the BBC Radio 1 website and on search type in “Westwood”.

BBC History
1. The BBC has been accused of being biased because they are allegedly pro-Muslim bias. In 2008 Hindu and Sikh leaders in the UK accused the BBC of pandering to Britain's Muslim community by making a disproportionate number of programmes on Islam at the expense of covering other Asian religions. The reason for this was that the leaders believed that the license payers should get an insight on other faiths and not mostly Islam as they all should be shared out equally time wise.
2. The reason why the BBC should be impartial is because they are funded by the public, because all television viewers pay TV license fee which goes directly to BBC. Therefore they shouldn’t be biased as they are funded by different people with different faiths, colour, culture, backgrounds and opinions.
3. I think the media can be impartial because when they’re arguing they can support both points of view. They can argue what they believe also add however and support the other point. Maybe for some people it can be hard because they’re positive and passionate about it such as football debates in the BBC sports radio or the commentary. Debates such as ‘who’s the most successful team in England? Manchester United or Liverpool?’ so in this situation they’ll support their team and can be biased.
4. Impartial (media institution)
Advantages
1. You will not receive any complaints of being biased
2. Both sides of the story will be told
3. Viewers will be satisfied as all points are being put across
Disadvantages
1. If not all sides are put across then it will look like you are in favour of one side
2. People have their own opinions so they will judge the institution whether they are in favour of their views or not.
5. Public Service Broadcasting
Advantages
· No advertising
· Claim not to be biased
· Have no say in public affairs other than the news
Disadvantage
· They have to cover all stories
· Need to cover the variety of multi faith cultures in the UK
· May not have enough air time to cover all opinions of the consumers
Commercial Radio Stations
Advantages
· Audience may benefit from the adverts
· It gives them a chance to do something else
· They may be able to advertise their own things on the radio
Disadvantages
· They can be biased to one side
· They can choose what to say on air
· The company may be run by their own belief and may not consider other people other than the target audience.
